Description
Waste Water reclaim (USA)
Criteria
Water enhanced efficencies for cooling towers
Describe how this investment will support the company’s targets on SDG impact
This project intends to reduce water consumption by reusing the DAF effluent water for cooling towers. Reusing of DAF water for our cooling towers will take us 1 step closer to achieving water neutrality. DAF water will be filtered through a multi-step process before sending to cooling tower. This process involves oxidizing the DAF water to kill the bacteria, using an Ultra filtration system followed by a carbon filter to prepare the water for Reverse Osmosis. Final filtrate water will have lower conductivity than typical potable water and provide enhanced efficiencies at the cooling towers. On average cooling towers use 32 MM gallons annually. Switching from city water to DAF reclaimed water will help us to save $332K annually in water purchase and sewer expenses.
