NOM-051 in Mexico regulates the labeling of food and beverages. This standard establishes that the nutritional table of products must be displayed in 100 g or 100 ml and must specify whether it is high in trans fat, sodium, sugars, calories or saturated fat.
In 2020, Mexico City launched a law that prohibits the marketing, distribution and delivery of plastic bags to the consumer, unless they are compostable, and as of January 1, 2021, the marketing, distribution and delivery of any item that is made entirely or partially of plastic and is discarded after a single use will also be prohibited.
